Performs skilled shop work on electrical equipment. Basic knowledge of electronics.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Repairs electrical units in accordance with wiring diagrams, standards and codes.

2. Inspects, tests, services, and performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and electronics.

3. Locates and diagnoses electrical malfunctions using equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, statoscopes, meggers, cable fault locators, vaccume tube tester, motor field and armature tester, tachometers, hydraulic and watt meters.

4. Estimates extent of repairs and informs superior prior to starting work

5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Nine years of education plus completion of recognized electrical training program. Some background in electronics.

Experience: Three year's experience as electrician/electronics. Additional years of comparable experience may be substituted for up to 3 years education or training program completion.

Languages: Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English.

Others: Valid heavy vehicle operator license. During periods of emergency or special conditions, this position may involve overtime or standby duty
